Thomas Kieninger is the second Kieninger to make and repair furniture at the Barn Wood Shop, taking over the business from his father Al. He devotes Saturdays to caning – and reports demand is steady.
The Barn Wood Shop has been in business for 80 years in its location – you guessed it! – at a barn built in 1885 that’s now part of the Allied Arts Guild. The 1885 date is a year earlier than the Russian Orthodox Church building on Crane St. So now we’re on the lookout for anything in Menlo still standing that was built before 1885.
