The Menlo-Atherton Alumni Committee has launched a brand new website in the hopes of rounding up – and connecting – graduates of the high school, which opened in 1951. It was created by Chris Rubin, class of ’97, who currently works at the high school.
Explains Rubin: “We have some very passionate alumni who would love to get more involved at the school but are not well informed about upcoming on campus activities. I also like the idea of helping people reconnect with their classmates and ensuring that they are aware of reunions. Finally, as part of the alumni committee, I would like to see more alumni gatherings. This site provides the opportunity to spread the word to more people.”
While a Google search returns another M-A alumni site, it isn’t officially sanctioned, says Rubin. “Some members of our alumni committee have done some research,” he says, “and there are names of people on [the other] site who never attended Menlo-Atherton High School – or so it appears.” Rubin is asking all grads to spread the word about the Menlo Atherton Alumni and to register on the new site.
And speaking of “on campus activities,” the M-A Band Booster group is hosting a Big Band Dance in Ayer’s Gym this Friday night, October 30th, from 8:00 to 11:30 pm. Tickets are $20 person (seniors $10). Proceeds support music, equipment purchases and competition entrance fees.
