Menlo Park Historical Association's ice cream social With the temperature sizzling, Sunday, June 27, was the perfect day for members and friends of the Menlo Park Historical Association to enjoy their annual Ice Cream Social. Sponsored by the Kavanaugh family, the event is held on the lawn on the east side of the Menlo Park Library. Ice Cream is followed by a raffle of donated white elephants. This year’s raffle was conducted by Lou Paponis. The Historical Association, an organization of volunteers, has an office in the basement of the Library where they maintain an extensive collection of historical materials related to Menlo Park. Office hours are Tuesdays noon to 2:00 pm and Wednesdays 10:00 am to 2:oo pm. Regular membership in the Association is $15 a year (special rates available for seniors, students, families). Members receive the Association’s newsletter, The Gate Post, issued several times a year, and are invited to the annual Chinese Dinner and also the meeting/annual speaker event. You can contact the Association at mphistorical@yahoo.com or call (650) 330-2522 during office hours.
