by Linda Hubbard Gulker on November 16, 2010

Bike Safety Ride at Oak Knoll School Oak Knoll School students showed off their newly-learned bicycling safety skills at a Bike Safety Ride this afternoon. The riders broke into groups and, lead by volunteers, pedaled down neighboring streets making a loop, depending on grade level. The ride capped a week of education that began last week an assembly for 3rd through 5th graders and Safe Moves program for K through 2nd graders. The older grades also took part in the Michele Mazzei Bike Safety Bike Rodeo, an on-the-bike workshop that teaches kids about riding their bikes in a straight line, proper hand signals, maintaining balance while looking left and right, and how to properly fit a helmet. More bike safety tips are found on the school's website.
