The first weekend of December is filled with holiday related activities at the Allied Arts Guild on Arbor Rd. in Menlo Park.
On Saturday, Dec. 4, there is a Christmas Market with the 11 shops and Cafe Primavera restaurant offering a treat or small gift for visitors. As you browse, you can get your AAG map stamped by the shopkeepers; return it to the Artisan Shop for a drawing of gift certificates to merchants.
Santa will be in the Albro Room from 1:00 to 2:30 pm to pose with children. Pictures are $2 each; family members can also take a picture of Santa and their children at no cost.
The annual Children’s Holiday Party sponsored by the Friends of the Allied Arts, which supports AAG gardens, is on Sunday, December 5, from 12:30 to 2:30pm. Participants will enjoy a simple lunch, table games, puppet show, and personal visit with Santa. Admission is $25 per person; children age 4-8 must be accompanied by an adult.
Reservations are essential for the Holiday party, which always sells out. Please make your check payable to Friends of the Allied Arts and include the names of children attending (for name tags). Send checks to Sally Knorp, 1000 Trinity Dr., Menlo Park, CA 94025. She will phone you to confirm reservation.
“We continue to have the party because it is one of the only remaining ‘traditions’ at Allied Arts Guild,” said Sally. “It has always been considered a service to the community and not a fund raiser.”
The Allied Arts Guild is owned and operated by the Allied Arts Auxiliary, an organization formed the for purpose of promoting the health and welfare of children, and raising funds to benefit the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. The Auxiliary’s major fundraiser is Tally Ho, which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year.
