Jesse Cool at Flea St. Cafe

We asked restaurateur and caterer Jesse Cool (Flea St. Cafe, Cool Cafe @ Stanford, Cool Cafe @ MPB) if she had a favorite day after Thanksgiving recipe. She replied: “This is a sandwich we used to feature but it got lost in the days gone by.” Our take: It couldn’t be simpler to put together and gobbles up leftovers:

Organic white bread – two slices
Gravy – on one side of the bread
Turkey – to cover the gravy
Cranberry sauce – plenty on top
Stuffing – as much as you want
Mashed potatoes – as much as you want
Mayonnaise – on the other side of the bread
Salt and pepper to taste

Jesse’s most recent cookbook, Simply Organic, includes many cold weather recipes, including those she labels as “Deep Winter.”

Thank you Jesse for reminding us that good food does not have to be complicated! I’m looking forward to lunch!
