This weekend the West Bay Model Railroad Association is holding its annual Christmas Show, beginning Friday evening (12/10) from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. This is the last Christmas show using the current layout; a new layout is in the works for next year.
“The current layout is actually 60 years old,” said Menlo Park resident Mark Drury, who’s the club’s newest member. “It’s kind of a relic. There are few as old in the entire country. Building a new layout is something the club hasn’t done before, so we’re excited. Our goal is for a nicer, more interesting layout.”
On display this weekend are three scale model railways and railroad memorabilia. Weekend activities include a raffle for a new train set. Admission is free, although donations are welcome.
In addition to Friday night, the show runs Saturday (12/11) noon to 6:00 pm and Sunday (12/12) noon to 5:00 pm. The Model Railroad Building is located on Merrill Avenue near the Caltrain station.
