Christmas dinner with a modern twist

Executive Chef Peter Rudolph of Madera Restaurant in Menlo Park Don't have Christmas Eve/Day dinner together and not sure how you're going to pull it off? You could opt to eat out. Peter Rudolph, the Executive Chef at Madera, which earned a Michelin star earlier this year, is offering a Christmas Eve/Christmas Day dinner that blends the traditional with the unique. Among the offerings on the four course prix fixe menu: chicken galantine with dried plum and Burgundy truffle, chicory, & pistachio vinaigrette; chestnut soup with parsnip chips; seared scallops with watercress puree, roasted celery root and butternut squash & brown butter apple vinaigrette; cranberry brown butter galette topped with crème fraiche ice cream. If that doesn't sound like Christmas to you, there's also a a beef choice. Photo by Chris Gulker
