Year-end rainfall report

by Bill Russ on December 31, 2010

Awoke New Year’s Eve day to find .1″ of water in my gauge bringing my season-to-date total to 9.35″. We came into January 2010 with 6.55″ and were dry until the 11th. The 11  Santa Clara water banks are at 54% capacity. Hetch Hetchy is 84% and Crystal Springs 90%. Back around December 21st there was nine hours and 35 minutes of daylight. By June 21st that will be about 14 hours and 25 minutes. Many will look forward to that increase. Menlo Park’s birches have all shed their leaves but the many liquid ambars are about half empty. By January’s end they should be stark clean of leaves. Such goes the cycle of life.
