La Entrada School presents San Jose Taiko to benefit Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund

The students and staff of La Entrada School are hosting a benefit performance by the Japanese drumming ensemble San Jose Taiko on Thursday, April 7 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in Jensen Hall.  All proceeds will be donated to the the Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund, under the auspice of the Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Northern California, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Advanced tickets are $10, and may be purchased in the school office. Tickets at the door the evening of the performance will be $12, and subject to availability.  Tax deductible donations will also be accepted at the show.

San Jose Taiko was founded in 1973 and was the first American taiko ensemble invited to tour Japan. Its “performers express the beauty and harmony of the human spirit through the voice of the taiko as they strive to create new dimensions in Asian American movement and music.” All compositions performed by SJT are written or arranged by members of the group.
