Musicians from Oak Knoll, Encinal and Hillview Schools, along with Menlo-Atherton High School, will perform at Kepler’s Plaza this Saturday, May 7, as part of the 17th annual Kepler’s/Friend of the Library Magic of Reading day. Kepler’s is donating a percentage of the day’s sales to the Belle Haven Library in East Menlo Park.
The music begins with the combined orchestras of the 4th graders at Oak Knoll and Encinal, their first public appearance together. These two groups have always been the openers for the Magic of Reading and have brought the largest crowds of the day. Following the 4th graders, will be the musical groups of the 5th graders at both Encinal and Oak Knoll, then Hillview sixth graders, finishing with the 8th grade groups, which endat 1:30 pm. In the afternoon, M-A’s Concert Band will open, followed by Band Three and Four, with the Jazz Band in the day’s finale.
Raffles throughout the first part of the program will help to raise money for the elementary school music programs, and the raffle procees for M-A will be used at their discretion.
