The UCCE Master Gardeners of San Mateo and San Francisco Counties makes its monthly appearance in Menlo Park on Saturday, May 21. Targetting beginning and intermediate gardeners, this month’s workshop, from 10:00 am to noon, will focus on succession planting – planning ahead to use space and resources in your garden most effectively.  Included will be the topic of integrated pest management (IPM), an ecosystem-based strategy that focuses on long-term prevention of pests through a combination of techniques such as biological control, habitat manipulation, modification of cultural practices, and use of resistant varieties. The cost of the workshop is $2o; it will be held at Little House on Middle Avenue. For more information and to register, contact Julie Scales at 650-326-2025 x 231, or email jscales@peninsulavolunteers.org.
