If you’ve read this morning’s Chronicle, you know the current series of rain storms may break rainfall records going back hundreds of years. Here’s InMenlo weather watcher Bill Russ’s report: “So much for James Russell Lowell’s, ‘And what is so rare as a day in June…then if ever come perfect days….’ How about .45″ in my gauge at noon today. My season to date total is 20.3″. There was no rain in June 2010, but the season total was 21.39″. We are closing in!”
The morning rain put a damper on the re-opening of the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center in Menlo Park. Face painting and a bouncy house were planned for the pretty patio (pictured) outside the new Oak Room but the dampness moved the activities inside.
