Divisa Ensemble will be in concert at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4:00 pm. The group is recognized for its “great ensemble, dialogue between instruments, and emotive power”. A quintet comprised of flute, oboe, violin, viola, and cello, the ensemble’s instrumentation and “mix-and-match” style allow for a unique variety of repertoire, ranging from traditional to contemporary.
The name “Divisa Ensemble” is derived from the musical term divisi which indicates that players divide into two or more sections. The group’s programs feature pieces with varied instrumental combinations, as well as selections with all members performing as one complete ensemble. Works by Beethoven, Besozzi, Borodin, Cannabich, and Palo Alto’s Nancy Bloomer Deussen will be performed on Oct. 9.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors and $5 for students in advance (available online); $25/$21/$5 at the door. St Bede’s is located at 2650 Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park.
