I turned both of my gauges upside down this morning and shook them and not a single drop fell out, even though the streets — and a giraffe disguised as a reindeer in a nearby front yard — were damp.
A year ago on Dec. 29, 1.4″ of rain fell bringing that season total-to-date to 9.25″. We are at 2.1″ this season, and it will take a torrent to catch up. Soon we will be hearing calls to conserve. Our last rain was .1″ on December 15 and then back to .2″ on November 20. At least we have gained two minutes of sunlight to 9 hours and 37 minutes (sun is setting later but still stuck on same morning sunrise time).
Alas, lots of rain means a happy new year to all locals.
