Volunteers needed for restoration work at Horse Park on Feb. 4

by Nan Chapman on February 2, 2012

The community is invited to participate in a Volunteer Day at the Horse Park from 9:30 to Noon on Saturday, Feb 4.  “Community support is urgently needed in our efforts to preserve and protect our native environment,”  said Nancy Benson, a Board member at the Park.

Volunteers will be asked to help with planting and invasive plant removal in various areas. Past volunteer efforts have included transplanting a native grass donor area into a drainage swale and seeding and weeding designated plots.

Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and long pants and bring gloves. If sunny, bring hats and wear sunscreen.  Water and cookies will be provided.

“Come late or leave early, any amount of time is welcome,” said Nancy.
