Families celebrated Valentine’s Day early at a Sweetheart Dance hosted by the Atherton Dames at Holbrook Palmer Park on Saturday, Feb. 11. “This was the first time we’ve held this event,” said Dames president Inna Beardsley. “The idea was brought to us by local resident Gina Preston, who had experience with similar parties.
“We’re really pleased with the results. We had almost 100 attendees, mostly families who aren’t connected to the Dames. People left asking us to do it again next year, which we hope to do.”
Music was provided DJ Robert Kusters. Attendees could take home the candy that decorated the tables and heart-shaped, helium balloons. Most took the time to pose in the photo booth. And, of course, dancing and having fun headed the list. Emailed one grateful participant:
“Thanks for a lovely evening. I arrived with two boys grumbling about being forced to go to a dance with Mom and left with two boys with big smiles on their faces who had snacked, watched, played games, danced, and even made personal requests of the DJ. They went home happily describing to Dad what a wonderful time they had. It was another terrific event by the Atherton Dames.”
