SLAC end to end from the air

SLAC is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and as part of the celebration, the facility’s multimedia communications manager, Brad Plummer, boarded a helicopter last month to take photos. The results include images showing the entire two-mile-long linac and its neighboring communities of Menlo Park and the Stanford campus, looking across the San Francisco Bay to the East Bay hills.

This is a rarely photographed aerial view of the SLAC 2-mile linac. In the foreground is the entrance to the injector which is 30 ft below the Klystron Gallery, the latter bing the long building you see from 280. The injector entrance is about 30 ft from Sand Hill Rd at Whisky Hill Rd.
