Spotted: Shuttered Mike’s Cafe at Ladera Shopping Center – new restaurant coming in July

Mike’s Cafe, a five-year resident of the Ladera Shopping Center, is no more. While its patio chairs remain out front, it’s glass front is shuttered with paper and peppered with notices. One explains that the Cafe closed on Sunday, June 3. The other is a newspaper clipping from the Daily Post reporting that a new restaurant serving “rustic Italian fare” prepared by chef Guillaume Bienaime, who was executive chef at Marche in Menlo Park, will open in July. “It’s not going to be more expensive or fancy or anything like that – it’s just going to be more fresh,” owner Mike Wallau is quoted as saying.
