Menlo Park Police Department asks residents to plan parties for National Night Out in August

by Linda Hubbard Gulker on July 9, 2012

The Menlo Park Police Department is inviting residents and community groups to participate in the Annual National Night Out event on August 7, 2012. According to the Department,  National Night Out is a good crime prevention tool that also helps residents build stronger relationships with the communities they live in.

At this annual event, communities come together throughout the nation to host neighborhood parties, cookouts, ice cream socials and other occasions to show their united stance against crime. Many use it as a way to organize a Neighborhood Watch Program, to create a neighborhood directory/email list for better communication, or generate a greater sense of belonging.

On the evening of August 7, Menlo Park police officers, public officials, community leaders, and volunteers will attend as many parties as they can between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 pm. Residents are asked to plan a party and register it at the Menlo Park Police website.
