This Sunday, December 16, 2012, the Menlo Park Police Explorers and the Menlo Park Fire Explorers will be walking door to door throughout Menlo Park from 1:00 to 5:00 pm collecting donations for three different organizations: Toys for Tots, Second Harvest Food Bank and One Warm Coat.
If you would like to give to any of the organizations, please either leave your donation on your porch or hand it to one of the Explorer volunteers when they knock on your door. If an Explorer has not picked up your donation by 6:00 pm on December 16, 2012, please feel free to bring your donation to the Menlo Park Police Department lobby located at the City Civic Center at 701 Laurel Street in Menlo Park.
Unopened toys for donation to Toys for Tots can be delivered to Toys for Tots bins throughout the City, at the Police Department lobby or at any Fire Station within Menlo Park up until December 23, 2012.
Canned foods or non-perishable food items can also be delivered to the Toys for Tots bins located in the areas mentioned above until December 23, 2012. A Second Harvest Food Bank bin will be inside the Menlo Park Police Department lobby, and donations can be placed in that bin until 2PM, Wednesday, December 19, 2012.
The Menlo Park Police Explorers will continue to accept coat donations throughout December and January with a collection drop off bin located in the Menlo Park Police Department lobby. They will be accepting new or “in good condition” used coats. One Warm Coat Program donation bins will be in the lobby until January 31, 2013.
The Fire and Police Explorer Programs are a division of the Boy Scouts of America, Learning for Life. It is a volunteer program for youth between the ages of 14-21 years of age who want to learn about the career of Law Enforcement or Fire Service.
