Menlo Park Library hosts summer reading programs for kids and teens

Here's the line up for summer reading programs at the Menlo Park Library for children and teenagers: Children’s Summer Reading 2014 June 9 – August 9 Readers are winners at the Menlo Park Library! Read at least five books, and submit a special project (diorama, report, drawing, collage, sculpture, etc.) about your favorite book, and you will win a FREE book, plus a few surprises, and be entered in a raffle to win one of many special prizes. A Summer Reading 2014 Mural Art Project Wednesdays June 25, July 2, July 16, and July 23 • 10:15 am—12:15 pm Join art instructor Betsy Halaby to create a 3-D animal menagerie to decorate the library! Summer Library Events for Teens Readers can learn, discover and create at the Menlo Park Library this summer! Read at least five books and create a collage to win a free book and be entered into a drawing to win one of many cool prizes. Check out the teen-only events and programs at the library this summer. Don't miss these great events: Potluck and Games on Friday, June 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Love food and having fun? Come to a teen night picnic. The library will provide sandwiches and light refreshments. Bring a dish to share with others. Registration required. Scooby Doo Marathon on Friday, July 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Come to a Scooby Doo marathon and relive your childhood. The library will provide Scooby snacks and light refreshments. Registration required. Work on Collages, select Saturdays from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Get a head start on your summer reading collage by attending Betsy Halaby's Collage Workshop sessions. Learn about the history of collage and see some great examples that will inspire you to create your own works of art in future sessions. No registration required. Book Club, select Saturdays from 3:00 to 4:30 pm Love books? Love movies? Join the teen book club as members discuss a book that has been made into a movie. Registration required.
