David Lewis-Rowen, who is Training Program Director at Fleet Feet in downtown Menlo Park, sent us this email today:
“Last year InMenlo did an article about the local family that Fleet Feet worked with to donate 96 pairs of shoes to kids in need…Inspired by this, our store has partnered with the organization they donated to, My New Red Shoes (MNRS), to host a shoe drive.
“MNRS a great local non-profit that last year donated shoes and back to school clothes to 6,000 children in the bay area. This year they are aiming to help 7,000, but they are still short of reaching that goal.
“This weekend our store will be matching donations: For every sale shoe purchased for donation to My New Red Shoes, Fleet Feet will match that donation with a second pair of shoes. We’re matching for the first 100 shoes, so we’re hoping that by the end of the weekend that 200 shoes will be going to local children in the Bay Area.
“Hopefully 100 families will be inspired to donate 1 shoe (and we’ll double impact of their donation) by the family that donated almost 100 shoes!”
