Young Minds Advocacy is hosting an event on October 7, 2016, at Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park to celebrate efforts to change the way we think about, talk about, and improve youth mental health in our community.

Founded by long-time Menlo Park resident and public interest attorney, Patrick Gardner, Young Minds Advocacy is a non-profit organization that works to break down barriers to quality mental healthcare for thousands of young people and their families across California.

This year’s theme, “Innovative Minds,” will focus on how the resources and spirit of innovation of Silicon Valley can be leveraged to create a true system of care for youth with mental health challenges. There will be food, drinks, live music, and a silent auction.

Special guest speaker is Mike Porath, founder and CEO of The Mighty, a digital publisher and online community that helps people facing mental illnesses, disabilities and diseases. He began his career as a journalist at ABC News, where he was the network’s first overseas digital reporter and where his reporting from Kosovo was awarded the top prize in online journalism. He has held a variety of writing, editing, producing and executive roles at ABC News, NBC News, The New York Times and AOL.

The event will be from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Tickets are available online. A limited number will also be sold at the door. 100% of the funds raised at the event will support Young Minds Advocacy’s mission to improve the mental health system for youth.
