Country Corner’s beloved owner Bob passes away

by Linda Hubbard on June 11, 2017

More tears along the Alameda de las Pulgas with the news that the beloved owner of Country Corner, Bob Wehab, passed away on Friday. A steady stream of loyal customers have set up make shift memorial in front of the convenience store/deli, revered for its great sandwiches and super friendly service.

A notice of visitation and funeral services is posted out front: “The Wehab Family will have the house open for family and friends of Bob’s to pay respects today, Sunday, at 5:00 pm. Home address is 940 Ahwahnee Drive, Millbrae. [There will be] a rosary on Tuesday, June 13 at 7:00 pm and a funeral on Wednesday June 14 at Noon. Services will be held at St. Nicholas, 5200 Diamond Heights Blvd., San Francisco.”

This is the second of two favorite Alameda businesses to face adversity this past week. The Plantation Cafe closed on Thursday, June 8.

I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Bob in person but I talked to him for many years on the phone taking his bread order. A sincerely wonderful man. I will miss him greatly. All my thoughts and prays to Nadia, Issa and the entire family. Love and Peace.

I’m so very sad to hear this. Bob had such an amazing heart filled with love for his family and such happiness towards his customers.
His courageous battle, with his wife by his side and his children running
Country Corner, was an inspiration to all.
It was an honor to know Bob.

With Love,
Kristina

My family and I will miss seeing Bob at the Country Corner Store. We have known him and his family for years, he brought light and humor into our world when we went to the store. He had remembered my daughters names and had always asked how they were from grade school to college. Condolences to the family, Bob will always have a warm place in our hearts.
Love,
LeRoy, Tulu, Jasmine & Jacqueline

Bob was a friend to my children and many children from Circle of Friends Preschool across the street. He was a friend to me and an inspiration. His kind legacy lives on…
