Menlo Park responds to Connecticut tragedy

Emails Menlo Park resident Barrett Moore:

“I have made a sign to put in our front yard — I want this time to be different.

“I am so afraid that this outrage will pass — lost in holiday shopping, entertaining and vacations. When we all return I worry that the pressure on law makers will have dissipated.

“This time is different for me. We have  to decide whether to cremate or bury a child now or before the next time. The only thing that can make this worse is if we let it be forgotten. Since I am lucky enough not to be laying a child to rest a this week, I need to do something.

“Putting a sign in your yard requires some courage. I think there are a lot of courageous people out there. I’ve had a dozen requests for signs this afternoon, so apparently this time is not just different for me.”
