Customers know when they walk into Kicks ( 1060 Evelyn St.) that they’ll get good advice from owner Lee Murphy. She’s shared her knowledge about clothing and accessorizing for about two decades in downtown Menlo Park, first at Calla and now at her current location.

On our visit we selected a luxurious Lisa Todd cashmere sweater ($215) and wrapped it in a Confetti scarf by Fraas ($28). The latter comes in a number of color palates.
