Eat pancakes, play on the engines, meet fire fighters

Hundreds of families came out this morning for the 10th annual pancake breakfast at Menlo Park Fire Protection District headquarters. Besides chowing down on pancakes – skillfully cooked by firemen wearing pink – there were tons of other activities to keep the kids wide-eyed and occupied. Engines old and new were on display, many that turned into
impromptu climbing structures. Some particularly inquisitive kids would even find the button to sound a loud horn or two, a good way tocapture the crowd’s attention. Any who tired of touring the equipment, could take a look at the antique cars parked along an adjacent street or participate in arts and crafts. For quite a few young boys, it was the perfect opportunity to try out this year’s Halloween costume.
The pancake breakfast was sponsored by the Junior League of Palo Alto-Mid Peninsula, the Menlo Park Fire Protection District and the Stanford Park Hotel. Proceeds benefited the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.
