Looking for new volunteer opportunity? Consider Project Read

by Linda Hubbard on January 11, 2011

What are your New Year’s resolutions for 2011?If you are thinking of volunteering and want to impact an adult’s life, consider becoming a Project Read-Menlo Park tutor.

The benefits of giving time to Project Read are evident each time we ask students, “Why are you here?”The responses are always heartfelt and genuine: “I want to be able to read to my child” or “I want to get my GED.”

Improving adult literacy transforms lives and our community:

  • Adults can get and keep good jobs with family sustaining wages
  • Businesses are able to increase productivity by employing better skilled workers
  • Parents, reading to their children, can raise the literacy level for the next generation

The next Tutor training begins Tuesday February 8th at 5:30 pm at the Menlo Park Library, 800 Alma Street.

If you cannot attend the next session, or would like to train earlier, we have video-taped and DVD training, as well as online training.

Please contact Project Read at 330-2525 or e-mail aabradshaw@menlopark.org for more information.
