Full Belly Farm comes to Menlo on Saturdays

by Linda Hubbard on March 5, 2011

Local residents who are members of Full Belly Farm’s Community Supported Agricultural project are picking up their weekly boxes in Menlo Park this winter and spring. The Farm is using the Flea Street Cafe parking lot on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 am.

This morning’s customers could augment their pre-orders with a selection of tulips, a wide assortment winter vegetables and lettuce, as well as nuts, beans, dried fruit, and eggs. Conversation with farmer Paul Muller, who owns the Farm along with Andrew Brait, Judith Redmond and Dru River, was was an added bonus.

Full Belly Farm is located in the  Capay Valley, an hour northwest of Sacramento. It has used organic practices since 1985 and is certified by California Certified Organic Farmers. Over 80 different crops are grown year round. The 300-acre farm also has chickens, sheep and a few cows.

Information about how to join its CSA is on the Farm’s website.
