Concert at St Bede’s features work by Benjamin Britten

The choir of St. Bede’s will perform Rejoice in the Lamb, a festival cantata written by Benjamin Britton, on Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 pm. In writing the music, Britton “chose poetry by the 18th century poet Christopher Smart, who in his Julilate Agno, sees the glory of God shining through not only religious icons, but also through his own cat and an irritating cat,” explains the Rev. Jane McDougle, Priest Associate and Music Director at Bede’s.
The program will also include two movements from John Rutter’s Requiem: the Agnus Dei (O Lamb of God) and his setting of Psalm 23 with organ and oboe solo, and also the unaccompanied choral miniature, The Lamb by John Tavener to world of the poem by William Blake.
Tickets are $15 ($10 students and seniors), which are available at the door. St. Bede’s is located at 2650 Sand Hill Rd. in Menlo Park.
