Ivory & Gold perform ragtime and traditional jazz in benefit for Haitian Earthquake Relief Fund

by Linda Hubbard on April 4, 2011

Mystic, Connecticut’s Ivory & Gold Trio return for the fourth year to perform favorite ragtime, traditional jazz, and Tin Pan Alley hits at the First Baptist Church of Menlo Park at 1100 Middle in Menlo Park on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:00 P.M.  This year’s proceeds will benefit the Haitian Earthquake Relief Fund. Doors open at 6:30. Donations of any amount will be gratefully accepted.

Emails Menlo Park resident Nan Bostick, who is the concert’s co-producer: “Humor, love of music, and exquisite musicianship are the hallmarks of this internationally acclaimed threesome. The Trio’s pianist/vocalist Jeff Barnhart (Monterey Jazz Bash’s Musician of the Year, 2010) heats up the ivories as his talented wife Anne waxes melodic on her golden flute, all held together by Tennessee’s Grammy-winning percussionist, Danny Coots, who often becomes a dead-ringer for Stan Laurel during the Trio’s entertaining repartee.” The Trio recently recorded and will be featuring That Missing You Rag composed by Nan, herself a ragtime pianist.
