The truth every parent needs to know about drugs

by Linda Hubbard on April 4, 2011

It happens to nice kids from nice neighborhoods. Drugs are readily available – from our own medicine cabinets to medical marijuana to street methamphetamine. Sgt. Leo Capovilla of the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force will lead a frank, informative and practical discussion about kids and drugs, including what students are using, how they buy and sell drugs, how they hide them and how parents can recognize the problem and help their children.

The talk, described as a “one-of-a-kind presentation and an opportunity for you to see an extensive display and hear for yourself what the trends are in teen drug use,” will be held in the Hillview School library on Thursday, April 7 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm  The free program is presented by CAMPUS – Consortium of Atherton and Menlo Park United Schools – and is open to parents, teachers and administrators, and community members.  Children are not allowed at the presentation.

Shouldn’t Capovilla be giving a talk about the dangers of streetwalkers in San Mateo County instead? Oops, I forgot….he doesn’t think they’re dangerous. He likes them.
