Spotted: Dahlias soaking up the sun

by Linda Hubbard on July 8, 2011

Note: a number of readers corrected us on our flower identification. Hence, this revised post!

Just outside the side entrance to Ladera Garden & Gifts we spotted a wheelbarrow full of potted dahlias in multiple colors happily soaking up the sun.The Ladera Country Shopper mainstay has been owned by Juan and Mercedes Navarro for almost 30 years. Yelp reviewers note the nursery is also a great place to buy gifts.

Juan and Mercedes — and now, their children — are the most wonderful nursery family. They are very helpful, attentive, friendly, creative. They have beautiful plants, with many varieties not found anywhere else, and gorgeous pots and all sort of fun garden-related items, as well as beautiful items for the home, excellent as gifts or as indulgences for oneself. It’s no surprise that they have such a loyal following. I’ve been going there since moving to the area 16 years ago and I’m heading there this afternoon 🙂
