Even after windy days, fall color clings

by Linda Hubbard on December 4, 2011

The gusty winds of last week put a lot of leaves on the ground in Menlo Park and Atherton, but most of the Liquid Amber trees are still at their colorful best. The reds and golds stand out beneath the bright blue, cloudless sky, with no rain in the forecast. Last year, reports InMenlo rainfall watcher Bill Russ we’d already had 3.25″. This year just 2″.

By whatever name, they’re beautiful trees–but I think the correct spelling is “liquidambar.” I admit that in the fall, “liquid amber” is almost irresistible.
