Yep, that was some thunderstorm Thursday night
Afternoon update from Bill Russ: “Checked my gauge this afternoon, and there was another .1″ that must have fallen when I was out for coffee this morning. This means 11.65″ year-to-date compared to 19.55″ last year. The 2010-2011 rain year topped out at 20.8 inches.”
If you thought it was loud on the mid-Peninsula last night, your ears weren’t deceiving you. The National Weather Service reported 750 lightening strikes between the period of 8:00 pm and midnight. San Francisco-based photographers captured some amazing scenes, posted online at sfist.
Here in Menlo Park, reports Bill Russ: “A fresh .9″ in my gauge as of 7:oo am, bringing the year-to-date to 11.55″.” The sun and clouds are expected to play tag the rest of the day. The rhododendron spotted on Bay Laurel Dr. was enjoying a sunny moment.
