“Waarts Plays Sibelius” concert on May 19

In a return-of-the-prodigy appearance, 15-year-old Stephen Waarts will perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Silicon Valley Symphony on Saturday, May 19 at 7:30 pm at Trinity Church (330 Ravenswood Ave) in Menlo Park. There will also be selections from Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky.

Stephen, who is studying with Aaron Rosand at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, will be playing a famous Stradivarius violin known as the twin to the Lord Wilmotte Strad, once owned and played by Yehudi Menuhin.

Tickets – $20 general and $15 for students/seniors – are available online until 24 hours before the performance. Advance ticket holders will be allowed entrance 45 minutes prior to performance to get the best seats. No reserved seating. Day of performance tickets available 30 minutes prior to performance.

The concert will be repeated on May 20 at St. Mark’s Church in Palo Alto.
