D and gorillaJust shy of 1,400 kids and adults, including a few elite runners, participated in the  Are You In RUN for Education organized by the Menlo Park–Atherton Education Foundation, as well as the PTO’s of Menlo Park City School District: Encinal, Hillview, Laurel and Oak Knoll schools.

The run was followed by a Wellness Fair on the grounds of Oak Knoll School where there  was food, games and awards. Kevin Chaves of Menlo Park was the overall male winner in a time of 16:48.5 minutes. The overall women winner was Michelle Tom of Los Altos in a time of 20:40.4.

And yes, doesn’t every race have a gorilla handing out bananas?

Evan Nelson (of Nelson Roberts Investment Advisors, the event’s premier sponsor) sent along a video that the firm made showing highlights of the day.
