Spotted: Signs of activity at corner of El Camino Real and Menlo Ave.
InMenlo reader Amy Bayersdorfer snapped this photo, which she sent to us asking: “Any idea what’s finally happening at this storefront on El Camino? It’s been empty almost 15 year. And now there’s activity!”
We asked City Council member Ray Mueller if he knew. After a bit of investigating, he replied: “The City doesn’t know what is going to go into the location, but there has been turnover with the property management company in charge of the strip, and positive signals towards renovating the site.”

This is only one location of several dilapidated, rundown and vacant retail buildings in Menlo Park. Is there a plan to revitalize the numerous areas between El Camino, Oak Grove and Valparaiso. I notice more and more retail turnover, I mean how many cleaners, unsuccessful furniture and rug stores do we need in a 2 block radius, right? LOL.

Menlo Park City Council are a bunch of lemmings that dont know how to create real change or innovation. All downtown businesspeople are frustrated and its citizens are apathetic about wasteful spending and ridiculous rules (i.e. parking) and over zealous police officers that have nothing better to do than write parking tickets. Sad but true. My advice: Cut all of their salaries and throw all of them out after one term.
