Swimmers and coaches gather for Add Janes reunion at Menlo Swim Center

by Linda Hubbard on October 2, 2015

Over 30 people turned out last Saturday afternoon for a reunion of folks who swam and/or coached at Add Janes Swim School, which was located in Menlo Park for three decades. The event was held under the trees at the Menlo Swim Center, thanks to Tim Sheeper and staff. Hamburgers and hot dogs were provided by Jeffrey’s Hamburgers, and, maintaining an Add Janes tradition, there was an ice cream social.

Organizer Brian Ferrin presented a granite memorial plaque, accepted by Ned Spieker, who coached at Add Janes, and Menlo Park City Councilman Ray Mueller (pictured above). It will be on permanent displayed at the Menlo Swim Center.

Sandy Pachaud, along with Judi and Carol Ford, provided a collection of photos and memorabilia, stirring great memories for all who attended. Everyone left with one question: ”When’s the next one?”

I worked from 1964 to 1973. When is the next one. Is there a list of those who attended

Great to see the picture of Ned and the old blue sweats! I used to get dropped off at Ned’s house Saturday mornings before practice. Add taught me to swim starting when I was 16 months old.
