Douglas Given, USGS Earthquake Early Warning Coordinator will present the next free USGS Public Lecture on Thursday, January 25, at 7:00 pm titled “ShakeAlert: The Path to West Coast Early Warning….How a few seconds can save lives and property.”

The ShakeAlert earthquake early warning system will begin limited operations this year. Alerts could save lives and property but several challenges remain.
With millions at risk, why isn’t full public alerting happening yet?

The free lecture will take place in the Rambo Auditorium/Bldg. 3, 345 Middlefield Rd. Menlo Park.
