by Contributed Content on February 14, 2018

On February 13, 2018, at approximately 9:21 am, the Menlo Park Police Department received a call from an alert resident reporting that two suspicious people were loitering around a residence near Woodland Avenue and Oak Court. The resident noticed that one subject was knocking on the front door of the home and the second subject appeared to be acting as a look-out.

Menlo Park Police officers immediately responded and located the home the resident had described. The officers noticed that the front door to the residence had been forced open and banging noises could be heard from inside. Officers determined that a residential burglary was in progress.

As officers were setting a perimeter around the home, a suspect exited the front door where he was taken into custody without incident. At the same time, a second suspect attempted to flee out of the back door of the home where he was met by an officer and was also taken into custody without incident.

Both suspects were found to be in possession of items stolen from the home, and all of the property taken from the home was recovered. Both suspects were identified as 14-year-old males from East Palo Alto. They were booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall for residential burglary and conspiracy.
