Last Friday morning a garbage truck caught on fire in the parking lot next to Draeger’s market.  According to Captain Jim Montalvo of Menlo Engine 6, the fire, which is under investigation, was contained to the truck. Crews stayed on scene for over an hour to make sure it was fully extinguished.

Faces of Menlo: Lydia smiles – and smiles

Checker Lydia has been dispensing smiles and cheer at  Draeger’s supermarket (a Menlo mainstay) for 19 years. Her checkout counter often features a treat dish for the kiddies and she always can be counted on for just the right amount of conversation while getting groceries quickly scanned and shoppers are on their way.
