Sherri Hill may have moved out out of Menlo Park, but she’s making a return appearance, teaching a class through the Menlo Park Recreation Department about something she’s been passionate about – making candy gift baskets.
“I’m going to teach little tricks of the trade,” she said about the class scheduled for Nov. 5 at 6:oo pm. “Most of the materials I use people can find at the supermarket or drug store – no special trip to a crafts store is needed. People will be amazed how easy they can put something together to give as a holiday gift in just a few minutes.”
Sherri lived in the Menlo Park area for over 10 years, and moved away only recently. She was the resident manager of large apartment community in Sharon Heights and then manager of the Menlo Park Rental Center.
“I helped hundreds upon hundreds of people find places to live in the area,” she said Many were new to the area and were coming to work or attend school at Stanford University, Stanford Hospital, SLAC, or Menlo College.
“I loved my job and Menlo Park but I had a dream that I never gave up on and that was opening my own business making beautiful bouquets out of candy. The first step was putting together a website, which I did with my husband’s help. Then at the end of September, we opened our first retail space, Gifts a Go Go, on Main Street in Half Moon Bay.”
Given the upcoming holiday season, we were curious about what the current rage in edible gift baskets is. “Bacon,” Sherri said without blinking. “It’s unbelievable how many things come bacon flavored these days – and that includes candy.”
