redwood trees in Menlo Park

Residents concerned about the removal of seven redwood trees at the corner of El Camino and Ravenswood are encouraged to attend a public forum on Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the downstairs conference room of the Menlo Park Library.

This public forum will be a venue at which people can learn more about the project and trees involved, provide comments and ask questions.

In October 2018, the Planning Commission vote 6-0-1 to approved the removal of seven trees located near 1000 El Camino Real. The plan calls for the planting of 14 replacement trees.

Menlo Park city arborist emailed InMenlo: “The seven coast redwoods approved for removal at 1000 El Camino Real were planted on top of a post-tension structural slab (podium) supporting an underground parking structure. Roots are causing progressive damage and preventing access for repair.”

Public comment and/or appeal of the Planning Commission decision has been extended to January 9, 2019.
