SLAC’s 50th anniversary celebration

Mike Ross writing for SLAC Today explains how photographer Matt Beardsley ascended 30 feet in a boom-lift to take high-resolution pictures of  employees assembled to kick off SLAC’s 50th anniversary celebration last Thursday. Thanks to a special arrangement with the camera’s manufacturer, he used a $44,000, 80-megapixel Phase One IQ180, the world’s highest resolution single-shot medium-format camera. You can see how it turned out by viewing this 450-megabyte photo on the web, which features cool zoom in and out technology.
