Jumping the gun on holiday cheer

These permanently-installed holiday lights in the tall redwood and cedar trees at Oak Avenue at Oak Knoll Lane appear to be lit early this year (before Thanksgiving) , but are just catching the rays of the late afternoon sun.
The tree, a minor holiday icon, has been lit for more than 30 years by a succession of families who’ve lived in the attached house. Last year, the (very old) incandescent bulbs that only stretched halfway to the top (the trees have grown some 40 feet since the old, original lights were installed) were replaced by state of the art ‘green’ LED bulbs using one-tenth of the power of the old bulbs.
Look for the lights to make their debut this year on Nov. 29, the first Sunday in Advent.
