A visit with artist Terry Steinke here for the Menlo Park Sidewalk Fine Arts Festival this weekend

The 28th Annual Sidewalk Fine Arts Festival is happening this weekend on Santa Cruz Avenue in downtown Menlo Park sponsored by the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce. The festival is open Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, April 18 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Included among the 100 participating artists is one of my favorites, Terry Steinke, a San Francisco-based etching artist whose work I find really beautiful. His Stow Lake etching (right) is one of my favorites and hangs in a special place in our home. Another favorite is Shadow Lake which hangs in my home office. I find it hard to resist Terry’s excellent work! (See my personal blog post from summer 2007!)
Terry grew up in Woodstock, Illinois and the influence of the fields, woods and lakes of that region are apparent in his work today. He received his art training at the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign (BFA, School of Art & Design, College of Fine & Applied Arts).
InMenlo dropped in at Terry’s booth today near the corner of Evelyn and Santa Cruz Avenue. Terry, who’s practiced his craft for 33 years, says “I seem to have regular collectors – people get used to seeing me here. I’ve been coming since 1983.”
