Curious about hand bells? Concert tonight (4/17) at St. Bede’s

by Linda Hubbard on April 17, 2010

Bell ringing is an ancient art, but much in the present for Michele Sharik, who combines tradition with innovation.  She’ll present a selection of her favorite pieces in a performance called The Golden Dance tonight (4/17) at St. Bede’s Church in Menlo Park, promising to weave a tapestry of music and story from Renaissance England to the Golden Gate.

To fans, Michele is known as “knowledgeable, funny, entertaining, and deeply soulful … even as she lifts more than 250 pounds of bronze in her own dance-like choreography.” She’ll be accompanied by pianist, Dr. Valerie Sterk. Tickets are $25/$18; the performance begins at 7:30 pm.
