How will the “big one” (earthquake) impact Menlo?

by Linda Hubbard on April 29, 2010

To help recognize Earthquake Awareness Month in California, USGS scientists Walter Mooney (pictured) and Eric Geist are discussing the Haitian earthquake – the fourth deadliest in history -and the Chilean mega-earthquake and tsunami during a public lecture tonight (April 29) in Menlo Park  at 7:00 pm in Building 3 Auditorium at the United States Geological Survey. Studies of those large, deadly and destructive earthquakes have yielded information that scientists can use to improve their understanding of San Francisco Bay Area earthquakes, and the likelihood of a similar large earthquake occurring in the Bay Area.
